Starting nursery can feel overwhelming, which is why we’ve compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions to help you through the process.
Application
We recommend visiting your local nursery during an open day, or for a personal tour, and then applying with us as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Fees and Funding
Fees include all meals, formula milk for children under 1 year along with standard and extracurricular activities, and outings.

Any parent with a child currently attending a Little Elms Nursery can refer a friend. Both parents will receive a £100 discount! Full terms and conditions can be found here.
Sessions and Availability
Contact our Parent Enquiry Team on 0203 814 8016 or email parentenquiries@littleelmsdaycare.co.uk for the latest session availability. Once enrolled your Nursery Manager can let you know of additional sessions if you would like to book more for your child.
Yes, all children attend a minimum of 2 half day sessions or 1 full day each week.
Food and Safety
All food is cooked by our own Chefs, and we can cater for allergies and most religious preferences. See Food for our menus.
No, in order to ensure the safety of children with allergies all children enjoy food prepared by Little Elms.
Learning
Little Elms uses Birth to 5 Matters as a guide for teaching and learning milestones and incorporates the 7
areas of the EYFS Framework into our teaching approaches.
Routines vary for our babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers but each day consists of circle/group time, focused activities, indoor and outdoor play. Breakfast, Lunch and Tea are provided along with afternoon snack.
We often do trips to local parks, libraries, museums and aquariums.
We have a School Readiness program to help our pre-schoolers learn independence with dressing themselves and hygiene. We also have qualified teachers providing additional classes to small groups of pre-schoolers to get them ready for school.
Little Elms have our own SENCO who oversees all our nurseries, supporting branch managers with children who have additional needs.
We hold sport sessions every week for preschoolers and a music class for babies and toddlers.
Staffing
From apprentices to Level 5 qualified practitioners, at least 50% of the staff at each nursery is qualified.
1:3 for Babies, 1:4 for Toddlers and 1:8 for Preschool.
Each nursery has Manager, Deputy Manager, and a 3rd in Charge. Additionally, each room has a Room Manager who reports to the main management team.
A Key Person is assigned to a set of children to track their development progress each term and make reports based on this, and communicate with the parents on their progress.
Facilities
Yes, all Little Elms nurseries have access to outdoor space for learning and exploration.
Communication
Yes, we use our parent communication app, Famly. Each parent has a log in and can view nap times, food intake and any messages. We also share photos and information with parents through the app.
